Staying Calm and Focused Under Pressure: Evidence-Based Tools for Exam Stress

Free Workshop | Thursday, 12 February | 15:15–16:45 | B11, Seminar Room A

Exam period approaching? Feeling the pressure mounting? You're not alone—and there's good science on what actually helps.

With exams coming up, some of you might appreciate a practical, evidence-based session exploring what psychology and neuroscience have figured out about managing stress and staying focused under pressure. No fluff, no mysticism—just research-backed strategies that work.

What You'll Learn:

  • How stress hijacks your focus — and why neuroscientists study mindfulness

  • Concrete behaviors proven to build stress resilience

  • A quick protocol for when you're overwhelmed in the moment

  • Hands-on practice: Experience a beginner-friendly mindfulness exercise

Who should come: Anyone who could use some tools for managing stress—whether it's exam pressure, deadlines, or just life. Students and staff from all faculties welcome. Zero prior experience needed, just an open mind.

About the facilitator: I'm Robert Spang and I teach psychology courses for computer science and HCI students, bridging the gap between mind and machine. I believe the best insights from psychology should be accessible to everyone—especially during crunch time.

No registration required. Just show up.
Questions? Drop by my office (B11 Room 124) or send an email (robert.spang at uni-weimar.de).

Important note: This is an educational workshop, not a psychotherapeutic session. INCLUSIVE & ACCESSIBLE ENVIRONMENTS FOR DISABILITY

International Workshop in Bergamo (4.5.-9.5.2026)

The Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) entitled Inclusive & Accessible Environments for Disability is hosted by the University of Bergamo (Italy) with the collaboration of the University of Picardie Jules Verne (France), the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar (Germany), and the University of Castelo Branco (Portugal) University of Macedonia (UOM). It is a short course for higher education students from partner institutions addressing basic concepts, models, criteria and indicators for promoting inclusion and participation of the persons with disabilities in the living environments (built, digital and natural), with a particular focus on the theme of accessibility and universal design. Furthermore, it will develop a broad- spectrum knowledge of the technologies (mainstream and assistive) to support social inclusion in relation to the different types of disabilities. Finally, the Course aims at promoting in participants preliminary skills in analysing existing situations and designing environments and solutions from an inclusive and participatory perspective.

Partcipation of students:

Students will get 3 ECTS and must register in Bison. There will be also online meeting which are obligatory to be attended (Dates are n.n.) The stay in Bergamo will be supported by 79 Euros/day and the coverage of the travel costs.
